Why go public

A listing is the start of a new way of operating, not a finish line. Companies that do it well use the public markets to amplify growth: they raise capital more efficiently, attract better people, open doors to opportunities and buy other businesses using their own stock.

Most owners think of going public as a way to raise money. Money is one lever, but it is only one. A public company also gains an edge in hiring and retaining talent, in winning partners and customers, and in using its shares to make acquisitions. Disclosure and transparency make every one of those levers stronger.

The four levers

Capital

Access to capital on better terms, from a wider pool of investors, over the life of the company.

Acquisitions

Listed shares become a currency for acquiring other businesses.

Opportunities

Public company visibility and credibility open doors with customers, partners and lenders.

Talent

Liquid equity helps recruit, reward and retain the people a growing company needs.
